The close eyed watcher of my blogs might already have spotted it. But I upgraded my teacup.

Now that I am starting to find my way in the world of tea you start to look different at things. Including the way you brew your tea and the cups you drink from. I have to say I am not one to spend a fortune on teaware…… well, at least not yet. Maybe later when I start to indulge even more on more exclusive tea. But for this moment I don’t want to spend too much money on Gong Fu sets or Xi Shi Zisha Yixing clay pots, Gaiwans or Chaozhou clay pots. I bought the connoseur teabrewer and I am very happy with that. I find it very easy to work with and therefore I am using it on a daily base. I am perfectly happy to drink tea from anything. Although I tend to prefer glass nowadays. My favorite is very thin glass. However I couldn’t find a nice teaglass that was thin enough. And other glasses were over budget in my opinion. But I managed to stumble on the glasses that I am using now. I bought two for when I’m drinking with friends. The glass is slightly thicker than the one a broke recently but it was very cheap and I liked that it was slightly thicker. It looks really small but my teabrewer is a 200 ML and depending on the size of the leaves I can usually pour the entire amount of liquid from my decanter into the teacup. So it is a perfect combination with the 200 ML teabrewer. The cup is a bit odd shaped but I thought this would be the perfect combination of a smelling cup and a drinking glass. And I found out that I really liked the feel in my hand when I’m drinking.
I didn’t expect that as I thought the glass looked a bit weird. It is not something I loved from the beginning but I started to like it the more I thought about it. On one hand I would’ve loved the glass to be slightly thinner because that would feel nice when you drink. But on the other hand I like it the way it is. The thicker glass prevents that the tea doesn’t cool down too quick when you are smelling and rating the tea. So especially for the price that I paid for them these are very nice teacups. For now this is my tea tasting cup until I come across something better. Or when I find it’s time to move on to something more decadent 🙂
So that’s it for today’s tea talk. “till next time!
